Rastišča so občasno poplavljena. Kljub temu so tla zračna in zadržujejo humus v različnih površinskih plasteh. Diagnostična kombinacija rastlinskih vrst Siva jelša gradi skoraj monodominantne sestoje, v katerih najdemo mnogo rastlinskih vrst, ki so ostanki razvojnih sukcesijskih stadijev v okviru združbe. Gozdovi sive jelše so pogosto panjevci. Les se uporablja predvsem za kurjavo. Ti gozdovi imajo pomemben varovalni pomen na bregovih rek, brežinah in prodiščih. Združbo sive jelše uvrščamo v zvezo Alnion incanae. |
Communities of grey alder grow on carbonate and non-carbonate sand deposits, particularly in the montane belt along upper and middle river courses. They do not develop directly on the gravel, however, but appear as an intermediary phase of successive stages. The communities are initial but with a relative long presence on these sites with alluvial deposits. The sites are periodically flooded. In spite of that the soils are aerated and able to accumulate humus in different surface layers. Diagnostic combination of plant species Grey alder forms almost monodominant stands where many plant species are found as remnants of previous and later successive stages. The forests of grey alder are frequently coppiced as they are particularly used as firewood. At the same time, they play an important protective role on riverbanks, slopes, and gravel pits. The Alnetum incanae is classified in the alliance Alnion incanae. |
